Ching Ming Festival
The Chingming Festival
or Pure Brightness Festival, Clear Bright Festival or
Ancestors Days or Tomb Sweeping Day is a traditional Chinese
festival on the 104th day after the winter solstice (or the 15th day
from Spring Equinox) usually around April 5th of the Gregorian
calendar.
Chingming Festival is when Chinese people visit the graves of their
ancestors. It has a tradition going back to more than 2,500
years. The overseas Chinese communities take this festival
seriously and observe its traditions faithfully.
Before the festival day, young and old sweep the tombs and on that
day the people offer food, tea, wine, chopsticks, and joss paper
accessories to the ancestors.
