Build a Museum to
Honour Pioneer Railway Workers and Others
To build a pioneer Chinese heritage railway museum to honour
the hard working Chinese and others people who gave their lives to construct the
railway to connect British Columbia to the rest of
Canada.
The dream is to preserve
our heritage and not let it be frittered away and lost.
Heritage identify us as who we are and where we came from.
Without history there is no stories and no identities. So much
railway history has been lost in Kamloops partly because both
east-bound and west-bound trains passed through Kamloops in the
middle of the night. The media were sleeping and as a result
the city and its people seldom got written about.
The Chinese Cultural Association is concerned about the mining and
railway history, the head tax stories, and artifacts. If you
have any of the above related artifacts that would be museum
quality, our associate members are willing to talk to you about
donations in kinds or money to make this dream come true.
